Hanken School of Economics

Hanken School of Economics represents the Nordic type of business school where research and research education play a central role. The Hanken faculty is engaged in theory generating, theory testing and commissioned projects, nationally and internationally, often in co-operation with other universities and the corporate world. The School's commitment to creating new knowledge is the foundation for the quality in education in the degree programmes, the MBA programme, and the Executive Education. The research education, where senior researchers act as students' supervisors, is seen as an important part of Hanken's activities in order to build a solid base for future research and academia. In 2012 the research conducted at Hanken was evaluated by an external committee. In its report the evaluation committee has identified research areas where research is of the highest international standard, areas where research has the potential to develop towards the highest international standard, and areas where research is neither internationally nor nationally competitive. Economics, Finance, Marketing and Management and Organisation were listed as areas meeting the highest international standard. The committee also identified the subarea Intellectual Property Law (IP) as meeting the highest international standards.
