Université de Montréal

With close to 70,000 students, one-quarter of them pursuing master's or PhD degrees and close to 10,000 enrolled as international students, UdeM is a top-flight research institution, with over half a billion dollars in research income, placing it third in the country. Founded in 1878 and nestled along Montreal's scenic Mount Royal, the university is home to 2,700 professors and researchers, 4,600 managers and support staff, and as a public institution operates under a $1.4-billion budget largely subsidized by the Quebec government.
