At the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry scientists of different disciplines investigate the complex biogeochemical cycles and in particular the global carbon cycle between the land surface, the atmosphere and the oceans. How ecosystems and biogeochemical cycles interact with changes in climate, land use and biodiversity is the central challenge for research at the MPI.
