The ABSW is a membership association for media professionals who cover science, medicine, environment, mathematics, engineering and technology. The ABSW champions independence and excellence in the reporting of science, medicine, engineering and technology and achieves this through providing training and networking events, professional development and special interest groups, access to scientific journals and other science writing resources and an annual awards scheme that celebrates excellence in science journalism. The ABSW has three categories of membership: Full for those whose principal source of earnings is professional journalism or writing; Associate for those whose work advances the public awareness of science and technology and/or professional journalism or writing is not your principal source of earnings, Student for those in full- or part-time education.
