LIP is a scientific and technical association of public utility that has for goal the research in the field of Experimental High Energy Physics and Associated Instrumentation. It carries through his research in the framework of large collaborations, in the scope of international organizations, namely at CERN, ESA and the AUGER Observatory, among others. The LIP main domains of research are: Experimental High Energy Physics and Astroparticles, detection instrumentation, data acquisition and data processing, advanced computing and its applications namely to Medical Physics. LIP is an associated laboratory classified as "Excellent" in three successive evaluations. LIP is installed in Coimbra and Lisbon, with a small team in Algarve.
