Effective today, Renuka Jain, MD, FACC, will serve as chair of the American College of Cardiology Board of Governors (BOG) and secretary of the Board of Trustees. Her term will run for one year from 2026-2027.
Jain will lead governors from chapters representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and representatives from the U.S. health services. The BOG serves as the grassroots governing body of the ACC, a leading cardiovascular organization representing over 56,000 cardiovascular care team members around the world.
“To me, Chapters are the heart of ACC. They create a space where members interact, find mentorship, and develop as leaders—all while making a real impact in their own communities. Through Chapters, we’re able to address local challenges, advocate for our patients, and bring national priorities into everyday clinical practice,” Jain said. “Chapter involvement transforms the ACC into a personal and meaningful part of your daily life.”
Jain’s involvement in the ACC began during her cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan where attending the ACC Michigan Chapter meeting was a highlight ever year. According to Jain, she became a part of the cardiology community that has extended far beyond her training years. Over time this evolved into deeper engagement at the Chapter level. Eventually, Jain moved to Wisconsin where she became involved in the ACC Wisconsin Chapter, finding a similarly strong, mission-driven community that ultimately led to more leadership roles at the state level, including as a member of the ACC Wisconsin Board of Directors and ACC Wisconsin governor. In addition to Chapter involvement, she is an active participant of the ACC's Women in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Imaging Sections and served as course director for the 6th Annual Midwest Women in Cardiology Symposium.
“Claire Duvernoy was the Michigan governor during my fellowship and was instrumental in inspiring my early involvement in the ACC and in all of cardiology,” she said. “One of the most special aspects of the Board of Governors is the ongoing mentorship that naturally develops—across states, across institutions and across different fields within cardiology.”
Jain is the director of echocardiography at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. She is also the medical advisor at the Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center School of Diagnostic Sonography. She served as the director of echocardiography for Advocate Health’s Illinois and Wisconsin Divisions cardiovascular service line. She is a clinical professor of medicine at the Wisconsin Cardiovascular Division of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include interventional echocardiography and valvular heart disease.
Board-certified in cardiovascular medicine, comprehensive adult echocardiography and cardiac CT, Jain received her Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency in internal medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She went on to complete her fellowship in cardiology at the University of Michigan.
“As Chair of the Board of Governors, my vision centers on empowering our Governors and strengthening the foundation of every Chapter, while also building the future leadership of the College. My priorities are to ensure that every Governor is set up for success, to strengthen advocacy at both the state and national level and to create intentional leadership pipelines within each state,” Jain said. “By investing in people, structure, and shared knowledge, we can ensure that the ACC remains strong not just today—but for generations to come.”
Jain officially assumes the role of chair during the Convocation Ceremony at ACC’s Annual Scientific Session, taking place March 28-30, 2026, in New Orleans.
Other new officers for 2026-27 are President Roxana Mehran, MD, FACC; Vice President Hani Najm, MD, MSc, FACC; Board of Trustees Members Fred M. Kusumoto, MD, FACC; Andrea L. Price, MS, RCIS, CPHQ, AACC; Finance Committee Chair-Elect/Treasurer 2027-2030 Sanjay Gandhi, MBBS, MBA, FACC; and Board of Governors Chair-elect Dinesh Kalra, MD, FACC.
