ScaleDem project launches video on scaling democratic innovations

A dynamic, multi-voice introduction to the initiative and its mission to improve democratic innovations across different political contexts and sectors

The ScaleDem project has released a video about scaling democratic innovations in Europe and beyond.

Now available to watch on the ScaleDem website and YouTube channel, the video presents perspectives from policy, research, practitioners, advocacy, and private sector actors. In the words of project coordinator Camille Dobler from Missions Publiques:

“The video script was shaped through a collaborative workshop with input from all 13 partners, spanning research, NGOs, and communication experts. It reflects ScaleDem’s belief that lasting democratic change depends on collective, cross-disciplinary effort!”

Funded by the European Union, ScaleDem works to bridge the gap between theory and practice. It provides tested methodologies and a collaborative infrastructure to help embed, expand, deepen, and improve democratic innovations across different political contexts and sectors.

“Democracy is everywhere, also at work,” says one of the voices, reflecting the perspective of economic stakeholders.

“ScaleDem gives us a space to learn from both success and failure,” adds a practitioner.

“We need to go beyond mapping what works, we need to build a sustainable scaling infrastructure,” concludes a researcher.

The narrating voices also highlight the four dimensions of scaling at the heart of the project:

  • Scaling high: embedding participation into institutions

  • Scaling out: expanding across levels, spaces, and sectors

  • Scaling deep: rooting innovations in culture

  • Scaling in: enhancing the quality of democratic practice

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
