Second edition of the Industry Symposium “AI in the Life Sciences” on current developments and applications of artificial intelligence in biomedicine

Location: Sankt Augustin
Address Schloss Birlinghoven

Sankt Augustin – On June 23 and 24, 2025, the second edition of “AI in the Life Sciences – An Industry Symposium” will take place at Schloss Birlinghoven in Sankt Augustin, Germany. The symposium, organized by Fraunhofer SCAI and the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology (b-it), brings together leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI) and life sciences. A particular emphasis is placed on the use of AI in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medtech sectors. With presentations from academia and industry, the event will explore key topics in medical research data management, federated learning, and AI applications in clinical development.
This year’s symposium will explore two thematic areas, both emphasizing the use of high-quality patient-level data in AI-driven research.

Data Ecosystems, Data Spaces and Platforms for Federated Data Analysis

The first day will address the role of high-quality, patient-level data in collaborative medical research. With AI playing an increasingly prominent role in life sciences, challenges around data standardization, privacy, and interoperability remain critical. Talks will cover medical research data management and federated learning.

AI Applications in Pharma and Medicine

The second day turns to the application of AI in digital medicine, precision medicine, and clinical trials. Talks will showcase current research and industrial case studies demonstrating how AI techniques improve decision-making, trial design, and the development of targeted therapies.

Participation in the symposium is free of charge for online attendees. For in-person attendance, a conference fee of €100 applies for professionals from industry and academia, and €30 for students.

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
