A Letter from the Editors-in-Chief
How time flies! Since Engineering’s launch in 2015, an entire decade has gone by. Over the past ten years, this journal has been dedicated to top-level international academic exchanges and high-quality engineering science and technology (EST) innovation. Through concerted efforts to serve EST colleagues wholeheartedly, Engineering has made significant contributions to the development of EST innovation across the world.
From its inception, Engineering has embraced the mission of “Engineering Science and Technology Create a Better Future. ” It is clear that engineering benefits humanity because, as the history of human civilization shows, engineering is intimately tied to our survival and evolution; we rely on it to profoundly transform our production and living practices. Thus, engineering has emerged as a pivotal force in reshaping the world. Moreover, we know that technology creates the future, given that science and technology are humanity’s primary productive force, and technological innovation is our principal driver of development. As it gains unprecedented breadth and depth, technological innovation brings widespread progress to society and the economy, steering us toward a future full of promise.
By combining technological and industrial innovation, EST innovation has evolved as a more comprehensive form of progress. EST bridges scientific discovery and industrial development, fundamentally driving social and economic advances. In fact, EST innovation is the main battlefield of technological advancement, accelerating industrial and economic growth. It has led the evolution of human civilization, propelling humanity from agricultural to industrial civilization, then further into the information era and toward the age of intelligence.
A new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation is in booming development. Led by artificial intelligence, the integration of next-generation information technology, new biotechnology, new energy technology, new materials technology, and advanced manufacturing technology is giving rise to new productive forces, creating unprecedented opportunities for the advancement of civilization.
As highlighted in the cover article of the inaugural issue of Engineering, EST acts as the wings that enable humanity to soar forward to achieve our dreams; it carries our aspirations for a better life, infuses hope into tomorrow, and paves the way for greater safety, health, and well-being for all.
The keys to the prosperity and growth of engineering and technological development are collaboration, openness, sharing, and mutual benefit. Thus, in today’s new era, EST innovation requires higher-level academic journals and academic exchanges—which is where Engineering has a role to play. In the decades to come, Engineering is committed to becoming the top scholarly journal in the field of EST and the highest-level platform for the international exchange of EST academia. How can Engineering elevate its quality to a world-leading standard? How can this journal further enhance its influence within global engineering and technology? How can it establish itself as the world’s top academic journal in the field? There is a long way to go and many arduous and lengthy tasks to be carried out.
As EST innovation is driven by people, and people hold the key to the success of Engineering. Thanks to our readers, authors, and editorial groups, as well as the care and support the journal has received from friends, colleagues, and EST professionals, Engineering has made great achievements in the past decade. On behalf of the Editorial Board, we extend our deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Looking ahead to the coming years, we sincerely hope that Engineering will continue to unite elite researchers in global engineering and technology. With the concern and support of engineering and technology professionals worldwide, we aim to provide increasingly excellent academic services to the global community, working together to make great contributions to the development of EST innovation for humankind.
