Le potentiel anticancéreux des plantes médicinales d’Afrique

Dans un article publié dans la revue scientifique Pharmacological Research, des chercheurs ont exploré les propriétés potentiellement anticancéreuses des plantes médicinales d’Afrique subsaharienne dans l’optique d’élaborer de nouveaux médicaments.

Pour cela, ils ont recueilli et fait la synthèse des effets anticancéreux et des mécanismes moléculaires déjà observés et publiés. Exploitant une base de données scientifiques pour sélectionner les articles de recherche sur les plantes médicinales d’Afrique subsaharienne publiés entre janvier 2013 et mai 2023.

« Ce travail est assez exceptionnel. Un important travail de bibliographie a dû être fourni pour identifier les articles scientifiques décrivant les effets d’un extrait de plante avec suffisamment de détails. Jusqu’à présent, aucun article de ce type n’avait été publié », indique Jean-Marc Lobaccaro, un des auteurs de cette étude, par ailleurs enseignant-chercheur à l’université Clermont-Auvergne et au Centre de recherche en nutrition humaine Auvergne (France).
