CERN launches the Grand Prix Resonance, a special edition of the annual Resonance residency programme

08/10/2026 CERN

Arts at CERN, the City of Geneva and the Republic and Canton of Geneva are pleased to announce the launch of the Grand Prix Resonance, the third year of the Resonance residency programme.

Resonance is a fully funded two-month residency at CERN for artists based in Geneva exploring the connections between art, science and technology. The programme, which started in 2024, is part of an ongoing partnership between CERN, the City of Geneva and the Republic and Canton of Geneva for the period 2024–2027.
The third edition of Resonance coincides with the 15th anniversaries of two significant milestones: the discovery of the Higgs boson and the launch of the Arts at CERN programme with its first artist in residence. The Grand Prix Resonance is an expanded edition of the programme designed to mark these significant occasions. This year, for the first time ever, the open call invites not just one but two Geneva-based artists, or an artist collective, to apply for a fully funded joint artistic residency at CERN, where they will work collaboratively to develop a new artistic project.

This year’s edition also boasts an increased grant for the development and production of a new artwork.

The residency will offer a unique opportunity to become part of CERN’s community through a tailored programme curated by Arts at CERN. The selected artists will engage in close dialogue with scientists, engineers and other members of the CERN community, while gaining access to a range of experiments and facilities at CERN.
Proposals exploring digital, multimedia and transmedia practices (including sound-based and immersive approaches) are particularly welcome. Following a review by a panel of experts, one project will be selected, based on its potential to meaningfully incorporate both a research phase and the production of an artwork. Artists and artist collectives wishing to participate in the open call must submit their applications via the online form available on the Arts at CERN website. The deadline for applications is 23 November.

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
