Despite remarkable advances in biomedical science, pathology—the cornerstone of disease diagnosis and therapeutic guidance—is facing an era of unprecedented transformation. Current epidemiological data underscore the urgency: in 2020, approximately 19.3 million new cancer cases and 10.0 million cancer-related deaths occurred globally, with China alone reporting 4.82 million new cases and 2.57 million deaths in 2022. Beyond oncology, pathological insights are equally vital for cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and metabolic diseases. However, the rapid evolution of life science technologies and the deepening integration of interdisciplinary approaches are reshaping the field, shifting it from traditional morphological observation toward multi-dimensional, high-throughput integrative analysis.
To address these challenges and fill a critical editorial gap at the intersection of basic research and clinical translation, a new international journal, Pathology Research, has been launched. Pathology Research is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing advances in experimen-tal, translational and clinical pathology. Our mission is to pioneer a holistic understanding of disease as a dynamic ecosystem, integrating the study of microen-vironment, microbiota, metabolite, nervous system, and pathophysiology. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among pathologists, clinicians, computer scientists, and biomedical researchers, the Journal covers a broad spectrum of pathology-related disciplines, including:
• Surgical and molecular pathology
• Artificial intelligence in pathology
• Spatial multi-omics and molecular genetics
Pathology Research presents original research articles, reviews, guidelines, case reports, consensus statements, perspectives, and commentaries.
Pathology Research is guided by a distinguished inter-national editorial board of leading experts in pathology, and related interdisciplinary fields. This board ensures comprehensive, rigorous peer review of all submissions while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. Our goal is to establish Pathology Research as a leading platform in the field of pathology. We warmly invite you to contribute your valuable work, join us to drive theoretical innovation and clinical translation in pathological research. Together, we can improve disease diagnosis, optimize treatment strategies, and reduce the global burden of diseases.
