On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of CENIEH, the Human Evolution Complex will host the eighth edition of the CENIEH Distinguished Annual Lecture, an event aimed at bringing a renowned scientist each year to the city of Burgos to share cutting-edge perspectives on human evolution.
This year’s lecture will be delivered by the distinguished archaeologist and anthropologist Prof. David Wengrow (University College London), one of the leading international scholars in the study of the origins and development of human societies.
In his lecture, The Role of Image Systems in Human Evolution and History, Prof. Wengrow will offer a fresh perspective on the significance of image systems in shaping the human experience. While images constitute a major component of our cultural heritage, they are often viewed simply as illustrations of ideas expressed through language. This lecture will challenge that assumption, highlighting how image systems have functioned as sophisticated cognitive and intellectual tools in their own right, playing a crucial role in both human evolution and historical change.
Join us for an inspiring exploration of how images have helped humans think, communicate, and transform their world across time.
