Brussels, 30 April 2026 — 28DIGITAL, the leading pan-European organisation driving digital innovation and entrepreneurial education in Europe, presents its Europe-wide Cybersecurity initiatives during a large scale showcase on 16 June 2026 in Bucharest, Romania, as a side event of the Bucharest Tech Week.

CYNERGY 2026 will bring together the wider innovation ecosystem to discuss the emerging challenges of cybersecurity in Europe and explore the latest findings from EU-funded projects. The event is free to attend and is part of 28DIGITAL's broader commitment to advancing Europe's cybersecurity resilience through research, collaboration, and skills development.

A forum focused on EU cybersecurity research

Europe's cybersecurity ecosystem is increasingly complex, shaped by evolving regulation - including the Cyber Resilience Act and the NIS2 Directive - growing geopolitical pressures, and a persistent shortage of skilled professionals. Against this backdrop, CYNERGY 2026 offers a timely opportunity to take stock of what EU-funded research is delivering and how the 28DIGITAL ecosystem can support the creation of a safe and resilient digital environment.

The event will bring together key actors from across the cybersecurity landscape through a series of panel discussions, presentations and expert exchanges. It will showcase a selection of 28DIGITAL European projects, each addressing cybersecurity from a complementary perspective, from strengthening Europe’s strategic coordination and regulatory readiness, to developing secure technologies and processes, advancing innovation in threat detection and response, and enhancing education and capacity building in the cybersecurity domain. The event is supported by COcyber, CURIUM, CUSTODES, CONSOLE, CyberSecDome, CyberHubs, CYCERONE,and SPECTRO.

"Digital sovereignty does not mean owning everything. It means controlling what matters — building trusted capabilities in critical layers, while staying globally connected through strategic partnerships. The real risk is not openness, but dependency without control." said Federico Menna, 28DIGITAL CEO. "28DIGITAL is proud to bring together these communities, from researchers and policymakers to industry and startups, in a forum that connects scientific rigour with real-world impact. Bucharest and its Tech Week offer the ideal setting for a conversation that is both technically substantive and strategically timely."

Testimonials

For well over a decade, in my capacity as a researcher, broadcaster, and producer, I have relied heavily on Alphagalileo.
All of my work trips have been planned around stories that I've found on this site.
The under embargo section allows us to plan ahead and the news releases enable us to find key experts.
Going through the tailored daily updates is the best way to start the day. It's such a critical service for me and many of my colleagues.
Koula Bouloukos, Senior manager, Editorial & Production Underknown
We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
