The ISSCR and Novo Nordisk Foundation Collaborate to Host the Society’s 2028 Annual Meeting in Copenhagen

The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) is proud to announce a collaboration with the Novo Nordisk Foundation to host the ISSCR Annual Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark 27-30 June 2028.

The ISSCR Annual Meeting embodies the mission of both world-class organizations, supporting new frontiers in rigorous science to better human health. The conference is a revered global forum for stem cell science and regenerative medicine, uniting researchers, clinicians, industry leaders, and policy makers from more than 80 countries.

“It is inspiring to see our partnership with the Novo Nordisk Foundation continue to flourish, grounded in our shared commitment to advancing scientific exchange and fostering global collaboration,” said Fiona Doetsch, current ISSCR vice president who will preside as ISSCR president during the meeting. “From supporting early career investigators to engaging senior researchers, the ISSCR Annual Meeting creates opportunities for the entire community to discover cutting-edge scientific and translational advances, stimulate interactions across disciplines and make new connections around the world.”

“It is a great honor for us to support the ISSCR Annual Meeting coming to Copenhagen in 2028,” said Tanja Xenia Pedersen, vice president for Biomedical Research at the Novo Nordisk Foundation. “It will be a wonderful opportunity for the Danish and Nordic regenerative medicine community to establish international collaborations and achieve global recognition.”

“We are very excited to host the global stem cell community in the Nordic region and to highlight the wonderful advances we are making towards new stem cell therapies within reNEW,” said former ISSCR president Melissa H. Little, Professor and CEO of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, reNEW, a global collaboration focusing on stem cell research.

Abstract submission for ISSCR 2028 will open in October 2027, offering an opportunity to present work in a poster session, to join the program as an abstract-selected speaker, and to qualify for merit and travels awards. The meeting will take place at the Bella Center Copenhagen.

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
