  • New scheme guarantees all full-time master’s students with a professional internship
  • Master’s students studying at Aston’s Birmingham or London campuses guaranteed high quality work experience
  • Scheme launches in September 2025

Aston University has launched a guaranteed internship scheme across its entire postgraduate master’s degree portfolio, providing high quality industry experience for its students.

Open to both UK and international full-time postgraduate students, the Postgraduate Guaranteed Internship Scheme launches in September 2025. It applies to full-time MSc, MA and MBA programmes.

Work experience is highly sought after by postgraduate students; approximately 95% of Aston postgraduate students surveyed at the beginning of their studies said they would like to complete an internship.

Aston will use a network of global employers to provide professional work experience to support students in their career. Postgraduate students at Aston also benefit from studying the Aston Global Advantage, a package of careers support and skills development, and are supported by its award-winning Careers and Placements team. Lasting between one and six months, in-person, remote and hybrid internships will be available.

Professor Aleks Subic, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University, said:

“This is a major landmark in the delivery of our Aston 2030 strategy, delivering excellent student outcomes and providing huge added value for our students.

“Our sector-leading scheme for postgraduate students will further secure our position as a global leader in employability and student success. Our teaching and student experience is truly transformational, evidenced by our place as second in the country for social mobility and top 20 for graduate salaries.”

The scheme is just the latest unique employability offering by Aston. In March 2025 Aston launched the Aston Power Skills for all undergraduate students, four key capabilities in high demand from employers around the world. Optimised for their programme of study, every undergraduate student will complete the Aston Power Skills – AI & Digital, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Sustainability and Inclusive Leadership – which prepare students for the future world of work.
