PCHRD-DOST, COHRED sign agreement to host Global Forum 2015 in Manila

Prof Ijsselmuiden, Executive Director at COHRED and Dr Montejo, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, have signed an agreement to host the Global Forum for Health Research 2015 in Manila.

Secretary Mario G. Montejo of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Prof. Carel Ijsselmuiden of Council On Health Research (COHRED) have signed the agreement to host the Global Forum for Health Research 2015 in Manila on 14 March 2014 during the 32nd Anniversary of the Philippine Council for Ha=ealth Research and Development (PCHRD) at Makati-Shangri-La Hotel, Makati City.

The DOST, through the PCHRD together with its valued partner Department of Health (DOH), and COHRED, international non for profitl organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, will be hosting the Forum to bring together local and international relations and expertise in research and innovation for health.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the Association of Southeat Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely: His Excellency Uye Myintuang, Ambassador of Myanmar, Mr R. Toto, Waspodo, Head of Chancelery, and Ms. Erna Herlina, First Secretary, Economic, of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, and health research stakeholders.

Secretary Montejo expressed DOST's complete support for the Global Forum as he emphatized the Forum's impact in the areas of health R&D and better exchange of knowledge and research results.

Prof. IJsselmuiden said that the Global Forum will help low income countries to set a global agenda and raise solutions through science and technology and innovations to ensure innovative actions for health and health research locally (Philippines) and in the ASEAN region.

The signing of the Forum Agreement is a significant milestone in the Philippine health research landscape and will commence the start of bigger and better opportunities for research for people's health.
