Who we are


Since its foundation by the UK's Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council in 1998, AlphaGalileo has successfully promoted research by supporting communication between researchers, journalists and the public.

The funding of AlphaGalileo has been provided at various times by the European Commission and the governments of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, with support from research and science promotion bodies in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

From 2003 - 2013, the Service was delivered by the AlphaGalileo Foundation. From 2011 the Foundation has been funded mainly by subscriptions and sponsorships.

From 2014 the Foundation has been replaced by AlphaGalileo Ltd.

AlphaGalileo believes that communication of scientific research is fundamental to the creation of knowledge based societies. AlphaGalileo is an expert in promoting research to the world's media. Through the Communiqué initiative, that the Foundation ran in collaboration with the European Commission in 2005, it acquired an unrivalled over-view of European research media relations.
