GUARDIANS launches Open Call #2 Test Before Invest to bring pioneering technologies to farmers

04/05/2026 youris.com

Building on the success of the first Open Call, which focused on co-creation, this second phase aims to bring developed technologies closer to real-world agricultural environments.

Through this Open Call, GUARDIANS will select up to 9 farms to test and validate technological solutions developed within the project. These solutions are designed to enhance productivity, sustainability, and digitalisation in agriculture, helping bridge the technological gap between small farms and larger producers.

Participants in the “Test Before Invest” programme will benefit from financial support – with a total funding of €90,000 – and hands-on experience with advanced technologies, enabling them to assess their effectiveness in real farming conditions before committing to full-scale adoption.

Importantly, this Open Call is closely linked to the first one: technologies co-created in the previous phase will now be available, together with the portfolio of GUARDIANS technologies, for testing in real-life scenarios, ensuring continuity and maximising the project’s impact.

Farmers interested in participating are encouraged to apply from May 1 to July 1 at 5 pm (Brussels time). This will be an opportunity to explore innovative solutions, reduce risks associated with technological investments and actively contribute to shaping the future of sustainable agriculture.

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.

AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
