The aim of this discussion is to attempt to determine whether there is a link between food sovereignty and regulations governing the trade in agricultural property, and, if so, whether the restrictions on the trade in agricultural property currently in force in Poland contribute to the achievement of food sovereignty.

The article explains the concept of food sovereignty itself and shows that a key factor in ensuring food sovereignty is to guarantee access to agricultural property for farmers with smaller holdings (family farms). The analysis carried out in the article leads to the conclusion that both the rules governing the trading of agricultural property, as set out in the Act on shaping the agricultural system, and the rules governing the management of agricultural property owned by the State Treasury, help to facilitate access to agricultural property for farmers running family farms, consequently contributing to the achievement of food sovereignty.
