Towards an integrated energy ecosystem: results, visions and perspectives for smart and flexible buildings from the DEDALUS and FORTESIE projects on 25 March

The DEDALUS and FORTESIE projects are coming to an end.

To mark this milestone, the two projects will host a hybrid final event on 25 March, in Brussels and online, bringing together project partners, stakeholders, and policy experts to reflect on the future of smart energy and smart buildings in Europe.

After several years of research, experimentation, and collaboration, the event will celebrate key achievements and lessons learned, highlighting how digital platforms, energy renovation, and demand response solutions can enable buildings to become active participants in the future energy system.
It will also offer an opportunity to share knowledge and practical insights generated during the projects, while opening a broader discussion on the role that smart and flexible buildings can play in supporting Europe’s energy transition.

The programme will combine project results and strategic reflections, creating a space for dialogue between researchers, industry representatives, housing organisations, and policymakers at European and national levels.

About DEDALUS
DEDALUS is an EU-funded project that develops and demonstrates a participatory Demand Response ecosystem enabling residential consumers to actively contribute to energy flexibility from home to district scale. The project combines social science approaches, AI tools, digital twins, and interoperable data platforms to support multi-energy scenarios and community engagement. Its solutions will be validated in five large-scale pilots across Europe and replicated in additional pilots.

About FORTESIE
FORTESIE is an EU-funded project focused on accelerating deep energy renovation in both public and private buildings. By developing innovative renovation technologies, digital tools, and the FORTESIE Marketplace, the project brings together building owners, public authorities and solution providers to simplify and scale up renovation processes. Through real-life demonstration pilots across Europe, FORTESIE showcases practical solutions that improve building energy performance, reduce emissions, and support the transition towards a more sustainable built environment.

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.

AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
