The DEDALUS project holds a workshop on its educational kit

04/12/2025 - 04/12/2025 youris.com

This workshop will offer an in-depth preview of DEDALUS’ newly released educational kit on residential flexibility and human-centred energy management.

DEDALUS is hosting an online workshop, titled “The Ins and Outs of Demand Response and Smart Living: Unpacking the DEDALUS Educational Kit”, a practical resource that helps students, educators, and professionals understand residential energy flexibility and its growing role in the energy transition.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, 4 December 2025, at 15:00 CET. Participants can register at this link.

The educational kit explains how homes and communities can contribute to grid stability through more flexible energy consumption. It brings together behavioural insights, digital technologies, and innovative management models, offering a multidisciplinary perspective on human-centred demand-side management.

Core themes featured in the workshop
The session will highlight the three key DEDALUS services that form the technical backbone of the educational kit:

  • Energy flexibility tool, which uses advanced forecasting techniques and load-disaggregation models to estimate consumption, production, and flexibility potential at both building and community levels;
  • Comfort flexibility service, integrating environmental data, IoT sensors, and human comfort preferences to balance well-being and energy efficiency during flexibility events;
  • District-level energy management system, coordinating shared photovoltaic assets, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging to optimise renewable use and reduce energy costs in residential communities.

These components will be illustrated through real-world examples from the DEDALUS pilots in Italy, Austria, Greece, and Denmark, allowing participants to observe how different energy flexibility strategies are applied across various residential contexts.

A contribution to education and capacity building
With the release of its educational kit, DEDALUS provides educators and practitioners with a comprehensive, ready-to-use set of materials that translate the project’s integrated approach — technological, behavioural, and community-driven — into accessible learning content. The workshop will be the first opportunity to explore how these resources can be integrated into academic courses, training programmes, or community initiatives focused on energy transition and user engagement.

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.

AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
