ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16, 2025 — The American Association of Physicists in Medicine is pleased to announce election results for leaders who will represent the organization starting in 2026.
Andrew D. Maidment, Ph.D., has been selected as AAPM’s President-Elect. Dr. Maidment will begin his three-year term in January 2026, first as AAPM President-Elect, then as AAPM President, and ultimately as Chair of the AAPM Board. He will succeed Robin Miller, M.S., the current President-Elect of AAPM.
“We are entering a pivotal moment for medical physics, with new technologies, new challenges, and new opportunities,” said Maidment. “AI is changing the landscape of medicine — it will affect the way we practice medical physics and the way we train medical physicists. I look forward to working across disciplines, institutions, and perspectives to advance our profession and serve the patients and communities who depend on us.”
In addition to the President-Elect, the organization elected at-large board members and two new additions to the Nominating Committee, with terms beginning Jan. 1, 2026:
