Tohoku University established SiRIUS in April 2025 as a new core hub for clinical research and medical innovation.
The institute aims to provide an environment for young physician-scientists (PIs) to focus on their research, as well as to support the translation of innovative research seeds into practical applications through collaboration with the clinical departments of Tohoku University Hospital.
A Kickoff Symposium for SiRIUS will be held on May 26, featuring keynote lectures by Vice President for Comprehensive Internationalization and Chief Global Officer Marie-Pierre Favre; and Professor Isaac Kohlberg, who is a special advisor to Tohoku University and Vice Provost at Harvard University.
The event will also include presentations by five PIs, who will talk about their work at SiRIUS.
