Diamond Light Source Ltd
The Diamond project is run by a joint venture company, Diamond Light Source Ltd, established on 27th March 2002. DLS Ltd is led by its Chief Executive, Professor Gerhard Materlik, assisted by the Technical Director, Dr Richard Walker and two Interim Science Directors, Professor Chris Dobson and Professor Colin Norris. The funding partners are the UK Government, through the Department of Trade and Industry via the Office of Science and Technology, and the Wellcome Trust. The shareholders of DLS Ltd, the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC) and the Wellcome Trust will distribute the funding, contributing to the £235M construction cost (at September 2001 prices) in proportion to their shareholding (86% CCLRC and 14% Wellcome Trust).
