Unlocking Innovation in Irish Agriculture: A Call for Innovative Knowledge

20/01/2026 ERINN Innovation

The CAP Network Ireland Innovation Hub, launched as part of Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027, aims to support the development and sharing of innovative ideas and solutions to ensure the economic, environmental and social sustainability of farming and of rural areas. A cornerstone of the Hub's work is its three thematic knowledge transfer pilots in horticulture, organics, and EIP-AGRI projects.

While the horticulture and organic pilots focus on identifying validated research, innovative technologies and novel policies to address sector-specific challenges, the EIP-AGRI pilot is dedicated to scaling the successful outputs of EIP-AGRI, particularly Irish EIP projects, for wider industry benefit.

We use a stepwise methodology to bridge the gap between knowledge generation and real-world application. We mine, collect, analyse and transfer knowledge. We break knowledge down into discrete Knowledge Outputs (KOs) and build tailored Pathways to Impact to understand exactly what stakeholders have a role in transferring beneficial knowledge from our pilots to farmers and other stakeholders in the Irish agricultural sector.

Join the Second Round of Knowledge Mining

The CAP Network Ireland Innovation Hub is beginning a second round of our knowledge transfer pilots, for horticulture, organics and EIP-AGRI. The team are seeking to interview researchers, farmers, advisers, startups and EIP-AGRI project leaders from Ireland and abroad whose research, innovations, or initiatives could be of benefit to Irish agricultural stakeholders.

We are looking to connect with:
  • Farmers & Growers: Have you pioneered a new practice or modified a tool on your own farm that has transformed your efficiency or sustainability?
  • Researchers & Advisers: Do you have validated findings from a project that are ready for on-the-ground adoption but need the right channel to your end user?
  • EIP-AGRI Operational Group (OG) Members: If you were part of an EIP project that produced actionable tools or methodologies, we want to help ensure those results benefit the wider farming community.
This isn't an evaluation of your work. It’s an opportunity to collaborate. Our goal is to package your expertise into clear, practical resources, like factsheets or workshops, so Irish stakeholders can benefit from your knowledge.
The success of these pilots relies on effective collaboration and knowledge sharing. Your contribution could help shape the future of Irish agriculture.

Testimonios

We have used AlphaGalileo since its foundation but frankly we need it more than ever now to ensure our research news is heard across Europe, Asia and North America. As one of the UK’s leading research universities we want to continue to work with other outstanding researchers in Europe. AlphaGalileo helps us to continue to bring our research story to them and the rest of the world.
Peter Dunn, Director of Press and Media Relations at the University of Warwick
AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.

AlphaGalileo is a great source of global research news. I use it regularly.
