Paludisme : Le Cameroun confronté à l’inefficacité des moustiquaires

[YAOUNDÉ, SciDev.Net] Une étude publiée en septembre 2025 dans le Malaria Journal, révélant une « forte » résistance des moustiques aux moustiquaires imprégnées d’insecticide au Cameroun, devrait alerter les chercheurs sur l’ampleur du problème du paludisme en Afrique.

Les moustiques sont devenus très résistants aux moustiquaires imprégnées d’insecticide classiques, une réalité qui pourrait anéantir des années de progrès dans la lutte contre l’un des plus grands défis de santé publique sur le continent.

Les moustiquaires constituent un élément essentiel de la lutte contre le paludisme en Afrique, qui représente environ 94 % des cas et 95 % des décès dans le monde, selon l’Organisation mondiale de la Santé (OMS). La région Afrique de l’OMS ayant enregistré 246 millions de cas et 569 000 décès en 2023.
