Between January 22nd and 26th the first Winter School of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) is held at the University of Lille 1, in Lille, France. The event provides PhD students and young researchers with the latest developments in regional science of innovation and structural change, as senior researchers will present them. Over the five days of the Winter School, young and experienced researchers will present and discuss their ideas in an environment of close interaction and feedback. This format has been developed for the traditional ERSA Summer Schools over the years and has proven to be very valuable for participants.
Lecturers from Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and The United Kingdom meet with 28 student participants from 16 different countries. They range from France, UK, and Italy all the way to Indonesia, Pakistan, and India. This wide range of contexts and experiences will allow for five days of stimulating interaction and exchange of ideas and views.
The 1st ERSA Winter School particularly addresses the interaction between empirical, theoretical, and policy analysis in the wide area of innovation, competitiveness, and regional development.
