• Eman Al Amri, Christos Megalou, and Dr Lincoln Tsang have been awarded honorary doctorates by Aston University
• The trio have excelled in international business, in the fields of media, banking and law
• The honorary doctorates were presented during Aston University’s 2026 summer graduation ceremonies.

Aston University has awarded honorary doctorates to three international business leaders – Eman Al Amri, Christos Megalou, and Dr Lincoln Tsang – as part of its 2026 summer graduations held between 14-21 July 2026.

Aston University awards honorary doctorates to remarkable in recognition of their transformational impact on their fields. Eman is director of Al Jazeera Media Institute, Christos is chief executive officer and executive board member of Piraeus Bank, and Lincoln is a partner and head of European life sciences at US global law firm Ropes & Gray LLP.

All three honorary graduates received their awards from Aston University interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Mike Caine and Chancellor Dr Jason Wouhra during undergraduate graduation ceremonies at Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.

Eman is the first woman to lead Al Jazeera Media Institute. She achieved an MBA with distinction from Aston University and has more than 19 years of expertise in strategic planning, digital innovation, and media education. Since joining Al Jazeera Media Network in 2007, she has built a distinguished career across roles in media research, corporate communications, strategy, training, and organisational development.

Eman is also the founder of the Al Jazeera Ambassadors initiative, which has provided free media training to more than 18,000 people worldwide, expanding access to high quality learning opportunities. Her contributions to media development and capacity building have earned her several international awards.

Eman said:

“I’m very proud to have received this honour from Aston University. My career has been a journey of creativity, and I am delighted that my passion and determination has been recognised by my former University.”

As well has his position at Greece’s Piraeus Bank, Christos Megalou is also non‑executive chairman of Piraeus online subsidiary Snappi and has been vice-chairman of the Hellenic Bank Association since 2025. Previously, he was CEO of Eurobank Ergasias and spent over 16 years at Credit Suisse in London. He has held prominent leadership positions within UK-Hellenic business organisations and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils.

A member of the LSE Hellenic Observatory Advisory Board, he holds an economics degree from the University of Athens and an MBA from Aston University.

Christos said:

“I am delighted to have received an honour from the University that awarded me my MBA qualification. I have enjoyed visiting the University campus and taking part in one of this year’s graduation ceremonies”.

Lincoln, received his PhD in biochemical toxicology and cancer pharmacology from Aston University, has more than 36 years’ experience spanning translational research, government service, and legal practice, he has held senior regulatory roles, developed UK and EU medicines regulation, and advised international bodies including the World Health Organization, (WHO), the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and various governments. He has represented the EU and UK in various global regulatory initiatives and appeared as an expert before legislatures, including the US Senate.

Lincoln is widely recognised by international legal directories as a leading specialist in life sciences, advising on major transactions and cross-border litigation.

Lincoln said:

“My career has taken me across the globe, working with major international organisations. The honour I have received from Aston University recognises the breadth and depth of my career in life sciences, regulation and law.”
