Skin diseases affect nearly everyone globally, imposing heavy physical, psychological and economic burdens. In China alone, there are over 240 million annual outpatient visits for conditions ranging from chronic inflammation and infections to skin cancers. While Chinese dermatology has made landmark advances in genetics, immunology and novel therapies, a premier English-language journal rooted in China but open to the world has been missing.
The newly launched Skin fills this critical gap. Built on four interconnected pillars—basic and translational research, clinical innovation, population health and policy, and emerging technologies like AI and big data—it welcomes diverse manuscripts including original research, reviews, case reports and guidelines.
Led by global experts and supported by an international advisory board, Skin aims to amplify cross-border collaboration, elevate the global visibility of Asian dermatologic research, and link lab discoveries to patient-centered care. “We are creating a homegrown, globally oriented platform to advance skin health for all populations,” the editors wrote.
The work titled “Skin: A New Global Nexus for Dermatological Science, Innovation, and Public Health” was published on May 25, 2026, in the inaugural issue of Skin.
