ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 28, 2025 — Yi Rong, Ph.D., FAAPM, has been appointed as the fifth editor-in chief of AAPM’s Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics (JACMP) by the AAPM board of directors.
Dr. Rong, a professor of radiation oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, was born in China and later immigrated to the United States, where she has spent nearly two decades dedicated to clinical care, research, and innovation in medical physics and radiation oncology. She began her studies at Peking University in Beijing where she excelled in physics and continued her studies in the Department of Human Oncology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
“JACMP has a unique mission to serve as the trusted platform for clinical innovations that advance our field of medical physics and radiation oncology,” said Dr. Rong. “Amazing things are happening in this field, and I want to share that with the world.”
Dr. Rong’s priorities for the journal include shortening the peer review duration, expanding JACMP’s international editorial and reviewer teams, and creating new article categories, such as patient center innovations and technology frontiers.
She hopes that by implementing innovative ideas to enhance the peer review process, experts from around the world can be brought together to contribute to JACMP and elevate the global impact of the journal.
