Mangala Srinivas appointed to Prestigious EU Science Advisor

GCSA reports are used not only by the European Commission but also by national governments, and have influenced key areas such as sustainable food systems, One Health, cancer screening, and microplastics in ecosystems.

The appointment of Professor Srinivas reflects both her outstanding scientific track record and her commitment to public engagement and science policy. At WUR, Prof. Srinivas leads cutting-edge research on in vivo imaging and immunomodulation, with a focus on multifunctional nanoparticles for immune cell tracking and oxygen delivery. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates advanced imaging technologies with 3D cell culture. Her work has been recognised with numerous high-profile grants and patents.

“This is a tremendous honour, both personally and professionally”, said Srinivas. “I am proud to represent WUR at the highest level of scientific policy advice in the EU. It’s a unique opportunity to contribute to evidence-based decision-making on issues that affect all of us.”

AlphaGalileo has helped us more than double our reach at SciDev.Net. The service has enabled our journalists around the world to reach the mainstream media with articles about the impact of science on people in low- and middle-income countries, leading to big increases in the number of SciDev.Net articles that have been republished.
