The European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) is set to host its second Regional Workshop of 2024, focusing on the Southern-Eastern Europe region. The workshop will be held in person at PwC’s City Life premises in Milan (Piazza Tre Torri, 20145 Milan, Italy) on October 21, 2024, from 14:30 to 18:00 CET.

Themed "Integrating Renewable Energy Capacity While Ensuring Grid Flexibility," the workshop will address key challenges and solutions for advancing Europe’s energy transition in line with the ambitious targets set by the EU Green Deal and the REPowerEU initiative.

Highlights of the event:
  • Presentations on the latest research and innovation (R&I) projects that address energy system integration in the Southern-Eastern Europe region.
  • Focus on ensuring grid flexibility while integrating renewable energy sources into transmission and distribution networks.
  • Case studies from Italy and Greece showcasing innovative solutions related to TSO-DSO cooperation and digital tools empowering consumers.
  • Opportunities for stakeholders to identify unsolved R&I challenges and contribute to shaping the region’s energy future.
The event will bring together a wide array of participants, including high-level representatives from the European Commission, national energy ministries, TSOs and DSOs, energy utilities, research institutions, and industry experts. The workshop aims to engage stakeholders from Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Cyprus, and Malta, making it a key forum for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
"Achieving Europe’s renewable energy targets requires advanced flexibility solutions to balance the demands on our grids," said Enrico Gaspari, PwC, Head of the ETIP SNET Secretariat. "This workshop will offer a vital platform for professionals and policymakers across the region to share insights, discuss innovative projects, and drive the energy transition in this regard."
The agenda includes discussions on R&I priorities at both national and European levels, featuring opening remarks by PwC, insights from DG ENER (Directorate-General for Energy), and expert panels on the integration of renewable energy sources. Download the full agenda at this page.
Relevant stakeholders from the region are invited to attend in person via the event's registration page.
