Prof. Dr. Peter Sedlmeier, head of the Professorship of Research Methods and Evaluation in Psychology
at the Institute of Psychology at Chemnitz University of Technology, has been conducting research on the topic of meditation for almost 20 years and is an internationally recognized expert in this field.
Now, under the title "The Psychology of Meditation," Peter Sedlmeier has presented the most comprehensive contribution to date to the current state of research on the forms and effects of meditation. "In recent years, a huge number of publications on meditation have appeared. For the most part, however, these are practical instructions, research contributions on almost always positive specific effects, or on special aspects of meditating," says Sedlmeier. There has not yet been a comprehensive contribution that summarizes and systematizes the current state of international research. In particular, the book addresses the theoretical underpinnings to date - from both Eastern and Western perspectives - and makes recommendations for further research.
