AlphaGalileo launches new Spanish service www.alphagalileo.es
AlphaGalileo Foundation and Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT), the Spanish science and technology organisation, have launched a Spanish version of the AlphaGalileo news service – www.alphagalileo.es for Spanish–speaking researchers and journalists.
AlphaGalileo Foundation to provide public relations services to Europe's premier research conference
AlphaGalileo Foundation will provide online and other public relations services to Euroscience Open Forum 2008 (ESOF2008) in Barcelona. ESOF2008, which runs from 18–22 July 2008 is the third Euroscience forum. The forums offer everyone interested in research the opportunity to discuss the directions that research is taking and its implications for the citizens of Europe.

Ireland joins the collaboration
The Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology has joined the AlphaGalileo Steering Group. Under the terms of the agreement with AlphaGalileo Foundation all Irish academic research organisations working in the arts, humanities, science, medicine, technology and social sciences have free access to Europe's research news service.

AlphaGalileo's Swedish partner ExpertAnswer wins award
AlphaGalileo' Swedish partner, ExpertSvar (ExpertAnswer), was recently awarded a newly established communications prize. The award of SEK 10,000, the "Christer Hjort Prize", goes to the project director of ExpertSvar, Tina Zethraeus at the Swedish Research Council.

I believe that AlphaGalileo is doing an excellent job in disseminating information on European research to all forms of media. It has issued over 16,000 press releases to date and there are 750 organisations using the service to distribute their research news, including CERN, the European Space Agency, the Royal Astronomical Society, the Lancet and the French Technology Press Bureau.

Alphagalileo charges for contributors
Proforma invoices are now being sent out with a final payment date early in 2004 to organisations that qualify for member status of AlphaGalileo. Member status is defined as individual research or commercial organisations based mainly in one European country. Invoices to the large research funders and multinational research bodies went earlier this summer and payments from them are now being processed.

AlphaGalileo Foundation announced
From 2 April the AlphaGalileo service, Europe's Internet press centre for research in science and the arts, has moved from the BA (The British Association for the Advancement of Science) to independent operation as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, AlphaGalileo Foundation.
MORI research
'The Effectiveness of AlphaGalileo', research undertaken by MORI Social Research Institute published today shows that AlphaGalileo`s UK contributors are satisfied with both the service they receive and with the effectiveness of the service in achieving its purpose. The research was commissioned by AlphaGalileo, the Internet press centre for European research in science and the arts.
AlphaGalileo extends its coverage to the arts and humanities
AlphaGalileo, the established Internet news service now covers research in the arts and humanities as well as science, technology and medicine. The new service was launched at 11.00 hrs GMT, on Monday 29 April 2002.
Second phase of the AlphaGalileo project
The second phase of the AlphaGalileo project is now well underway following the first formal meeting of the partners from six European nations on Wednesday 4 July in Paris. AlphaGalileo is now operating with the support of the Research Directorate General of the European Commission and in partnership with Suomen Akatemia (Finland), Association française pour l'avancement des sciences (France), Forschungszentrum Jülich Gmbh (Germany), the National Hellenic Research Foundation (Greece), Observatório das Ciências e das Tecnologias (Portugal) and The BA - The British Association for the Advancement of Science and CLRC - Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (United Kingdom).
AlphaGalileo receives major grant from the EC
The EC has awarded 787,000 euros over two years to AlphaGalileo Europe. This will place the service in a truly unique position to promote European science, engineering and technology.
AlphaGalileo: a European science news success story
AlphaGalileo, the UK-based European science news service, is enabling journalists to write more stories on UK and other European science, medicine and technology., according to independent research by MORI. In just over two years AlphaGalileo has become the premier science news service for European science.
Languages, pictures, action: AlphaGalileo's new look
AlphaGalileo, the Internet press centre for European science, medicine and technology, has launched its major upgrade today. The new site includes expanded content including pictures and movies, additional user features and a new design. These updates have been
produced following research among our users in France and the UK over the last 12 months.
France confirms its commitment to the AlphaGalileo project
At the British Association for the Advancement of Science¹s annual Festival in Sheffield yesterday a senior French civil servant confirmed French support for the AlphaGalileo Internet news centre for science and technology.
Anne-Marie Revco from the French Ministry of Education, Research and Technology said, "the AlphaGalileo European press centre for science and technology is one of the tools that European science needs." She added, "during its presidency of the European Union in the second half of the year 2000, France will encourage its European partners to actively promote science and technology information at the European level, including wider use of AlphaGalileo."
AlphaGalileo launched in France
Edouard Brézin, Président of the Conseil d'Administration of CNRS, and Sir Michael Jay, British Ambassador to France, will jointly launch AlphaGalileo in France on 7 October in Paris.

European research has become more accessible to journalists world-wide with the launch today of AlphaGalileo by Lord Sainsbury, the UK's Minister for Science.
