Clinical psychologists hold their annual conference
The Annual Conference of the British Psychological Society's Division of Clinical Psychology is to be held at the Congress Centre, 28 Great Russell Street, London WC1 on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December 2009. The Annual Conference of the Division's Faculty of Clinical Health Psychology will take place in parallel with the main Division event.
More than 250 clinical psychologists are expected to attend the conference where over 100 papers and posters will be presented on a range of topics, including:
* Improving mental health practice with children and young people
* Understanding bipolar disorder
* Psychological adjustment to disfigurement
* Predicting post-traumatic stress
* Self-care for clinicians
Keynote addresses will be given by:
* Dr Tim Dalgleish, MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit: 'Lost in Translation? The basic science - clinical practice dialogue'
* Dr Keith Dobson, University of Calgary: 'Evidence-based practice in psychology: From theory to practice and back again'
* Professor Gisli Gudjonsson, Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London: Psychological vulnerabilities in police interviews: When do they matter?'
* Professor Jim van Os, Maastricht University: 'Epidemiology informing psychology informing terminology in psychosis'
* Dr Anthony Scioli, Keene State College, University System of New Hampshire: 'Hope in the age of anxiety'
