How do you see science?
17 September 2012 — 19 November 2012
Asociación RUVID
The Network of Valencian Universities for the promotion of R&D (RUVID) has organised a new edition of a photograph competition aimed at reflecting on the impact of science and technology on our lives. There are prizes in cash to be won and the best entries will be selected for an exhibition that will travel around the Valencian Region.
The images can show any aspect of science and technology, or scientific activity. Therefore, anything from a striking snapshot of nature, to a personal view on the social value of science or the scope of technology will be accepted, as so the world only visible through a microscope, a scientific experiment or a sample of research work.
Anyone can take part in this on-line competition with up to three digital photos by category, provided that they are original and have not been awarded in other contests. Photographs may be submitted in black and white or color.
As in previous years, the competition includes three categories: one for photographs taken with conventional cameras, another for those taken with scientific instrumentation, and a third for the work submitted by Valencian schools.
Participants must follow the instructions (in Spanish) of the website www.ruvid.org/comoveslaciencia, entering the author’s details, the title and a brief description in Spanish explaining the relation between the photograph and science. The deadline is November 19 2012.
The jury will value the artistic and technical quality of the photograph as well as the author’s description. As for the awards, prizes of 800 € and 300 € will be awarded for the adult categories. The prize for the best student’s photograph will be a fun science activity for the class and the center will host RUVID’s photography exhibition.
In the Gallery section of the website (www.ruvid.org/comoveslaciencia) all the entries will be permanently visible. The amazing photographs of the past five editions can also be viewed.
