Background information on the transmission:

In the coming weeks two Meteo satellites will be launched: in June it will be MSG 3 from Kourou and then METOP B from Baikonur.

35 years after the launch of Meteosat, the first European weather satellite,
Europe has now a full fleet of satellite with EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, delivering weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products 24 hours a day,365 days a year.

The present system includes two generations of geostationary Meteosat satellites whose global overview is complemented by the detailed observations provided in particular by the polar orbiting Metop satellite.
