Excellence in European Project Proposals: COWIN Training Session 2011
29 September 2011
VDI/VDE-Innovation + Technik GmbH
A successful proposal for a European project requires a relevant topic, the right partners, a suitable call, but should also present the partners’ strategy among the partners exploiting the results of their research. These requirements will be in the centre of interest of the next COWIN Training session. This event will take place on October 7th 2011 in Barcelona as part of the EPoSS Annual Forum and Proposers’ Day.
The participation in EPoSS Proposers' Day including COWIN Training session is free of charge. Registration for the training session and EPoSS Proposers’ Day is available on: www.smart-systems-integration.org/public/news-events/events/eposs-proposers-day-2011
The training is dedicated to patent situation and IP management within a European project consortium in order to optimise application in European Calls for Collaborative Research Funding. There are several factors which may limit the impact or commercial exploitation of finished RTD projects: These can be different obstacles, like conflicts of interest among the partners involved in the RTD project, lack of funds to industrialise the prototypes, IPR management, market evolution or development of alternative technologies. COWIN’s training session will review the most frequent risks or obstacles and will provide some methodological approaches on how to address and mitigate (when possible) those exploitation barriers.
Around 50 new calls for collaborative research projects under the 7th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development (FP7) were launched on July 20th 2011 by the European Commission in different technological areas. An overview of the relevant call opened for the Miniaturised Smart Systems Community can be found on the COWIN Website under: www.cowin4u.eu/news
EPoSS, the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration, will provide the political and technological frame and information about the current calls as well as potential partners from the EPoSS community while COWIN will procure training on patent situation and IP management within a European project consortium, giving you key elements to build up the best proposals.
